Evidence over opinion. Every phase, every build.

Hardware is expensive to get wrong late. Our process is built to surface the expensive problems early, while they’re still cheap, and to give you a clear decision point at the end of every phase.

The process

Five phases. Clear inputs, clear outputs.

You can start at any phase and stop after any phase. Each one is scoped and priced on its own, so you never commit to more than the evidence supports.

  1. 01

    Frame

    1-2 wks

We pin down what the product must do, who touches it, and what “done” looks like for this build. You leave with a requirements sheet, a risk register and a fixed plan for the next phase.

    You bring

    • Your goals, constraints and any prior work
    • Access to users, stakeholders or the field

    You leave with

    • Product requirements document
    • Risk register, ranked
    • Fixed-fee plan for the next phase
  2. 02

    Explore

    2-4 wks

Parallel concepts, sketch models and works-like rigs that retire the scariest technical risks first. Cheap, fast and deliberately rough.

    You bring

    • Agreed requirements and top risks

    You leave with

    • 2-4 concepts with trade-off analysis
    • Sketch models and works-like rigs
    • A recommended direction, backed by test data
  3. 03

    Engineer

    4-10 wks

Full mechanical, electrical and firmware design with DFM baked in from day one. Every drawing and schematic is reviewed by someone who will actually build it.

    You bring

    • Selected concept and architecture

    You leave with

    • Production-intent CAD, schematics and firmware
    • DFM / DFA reviews with suppliers
    • Costed bill of materials
  4. 04

    Build & test

    Iterative

Our in-house shop turns revisions in days, not weeks. Each build runs through a written test plan (functional, environmental and abuse) before it reaches your desk.

    You bring

    • Released design for each build

    You leave with

    • Functional prototypes (EVT / DVT builds)
    • Test plans and signed test reports
    • Issue log and corrective actions
  5. 05

    Transfer

    2-6 wks

Pilot builds, supplier qualification and a clean NPI package your contract manufacturer can quote against without phoning us.

    You bring

    • Design freeze

    You leave with

    • Pilot units and first-article inspection
    • NPI package: drawings, BOM, work instructions
    • Contract manufacturer onboarding

Length
2-4 weeks
Pricing
Fixed fee
  • Requirements and risk workshop
  • Rapid works-like rigs for the top 2-3 risks

Embedded Lab

You have an in-house team and need more hands, specialist skills or shop capacity.

Length
Ongoing, 3-month minimum
Pricing
Monthly retainer
  • Named engineers working in your tools and rituals
  • Priority access to the machine shop and test lab
  • Flexible scope, reviewed monthly
  • Scales up or down with 30 days’ notice

The fine print, up front

What clients ask before they sign.

You own the IP

Everything we create for your project (CAD, schematics, firmware, test data, documentation) is assigned to you. Native files transfer at every milestone, not just the last.

Confidential by default

Mutual NDA before any detail changes hands. Client-dedicated locked project rooms, access-controlled file storage, and no portfolio use without written permission.

Weekly, in person or not

A short demo every week, with real parts on the table, plus a shared workspace with the live schedule, open issues and every file we’ve produced.

Fixed fees, honest change

Each phase is fixed-fee against a written scope. If scope changes, we tell you before we spend, with the cost and schedule impact in writing.

Next step

Tell us what you’re building.

Share as much or as little as you can. A senior engineer reads every inquiry and replies within one business day, usually with a few sharp questions and a suggested first step.
